Mark Zuckerberg's financial empire continues to expand, with the Meta CEO now ranking as the second-richest person globally, overtaking Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault. According to Bloomberg's Billionaire Index, Zuckerberg's personal wealth has reached $206 billion, placing him just behind Elon Musk.
Zuckerberg's fortune has seen a staggering increase of $78.1 billion in 2024, earning him a spot in the exclusive $200 billion club, which currently has only three members. Elon Musk leads with $256 billion, followed by Zuckerberg, and then Bezos at $205 billion. Bernard Arnault, CEO of luxury brand LVMH, has slipped to fourth place with a $193 billion net worth.
The 40-year-old Zuckerberg, who launched Facebook in 2004, has the majority of his wealth invested in Meta Platforms stock. In 2024, Meta's shares (META) have experienced a remarkable surge of over 72%. On September 25, Meta's stock closed at an all-time high of $595.94, increasing by 2.26%.
Meta's portfolio includes popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, along with the instant messaging app WhatsApp. At the Meta Connect 2024 event, Zuckerberg revealed that Meta AI is poised to become the world's most utilized assistant, with nearly 500 million monthly active users and potential for growth in large markets like those in the European Union.
Zuckerberg is not alone in his financial ascent; other tech leaders have also seen significant growth in their net worth in 2024. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, and Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, have seen their fortunes increase by $63.5 billion and $55.9 billion, respectively.
